"Mountain View Community Church exists to glorify God, by calling people to know God genuinely, to love Him passionately, and to serve Him faithfully"
We evaluate how we are doing at fulfilling our mission statement by looking for the following "Defining Marks" in the life of each person who is a part of our church family. It would be our desire that every person who is part of the MVC family would possess these "Defining Marks" in an increasing way in their life.
- Encountering Jesus: Each person cultivating daily, life-changing intimacy with the Savior. [LISTEN]
- Experiencing Biblical Community: Each person experiencing biblical community with other believers in the church family. [LISTEN]
- Engaging the Culture: Each person sharing their transformation with the world around them in their sphere of influence to show them the reality of Jesus through word and action. [LISTEN]
- Excelling in Stewardship: Each person using their time, talents and treasures to further God's kingdom. [LISTEN PART 1] [LISTEN PART 2]
We believe these Defining Marks are best facilitated by an environment that reflects the following core values:
- People In Process - The Christian life is a process where one grows from embracing Christ to greater maturity. We do not attain instant maturity, but grow as a process over time. (Philippians 3:12-14; Colossians 1:28-29)
- Purposeful Living - As a believer, each area of life is to be set apart to please God. As uniquely gifted individuals, we are also called to influence our community and world for the cause of Christ. (John 4:24; Colossians 3:23; 1 Corinthians 9:19-27; 10:31; Psalms 115:1; Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 4:10; Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20)
- Practical Input - The Scriptures are central and authoritative to all that Mountain View Community does. We are committed to bringing the life-transforming truths of God to the very living room of people's lives. (1 Peter 1:23, 2:2; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Personal Relationships - Genuine growth and ministry is facilitated in a life-to-life context, within an environment of love and acceptance.(Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Thessalonians 1:5- 6; 2:8,13)
- Proactive Multiplication - As a group of believers, we are convinced that the greatest way of reaching lost people is through the reproduction of healthy churches. That is accomplished when each person and each ministry is proactively multiplying themselves. (Acts 1:8; 2:41-47; 9:31; 16:5; Romans 15:20)
