What We Believe

Gospel Centered

We join with the apostle Paul in believing that THE GOSPEL is a matter of first importance for our daily lives (1 Cor 15:1-4). The gospel is not simply the message we believe "by which we are saved", but it is also the reality "in which we stand" in our daily Christian lives. Being centered on the gospel means living each day in the good of the cross of Jesus Christ, never moving away from its far-reaching implications...

Mission Statement

We exist to make Christ known as we passionately love Him together.

To best see this mission accomplished, MVC desires that each person would be cultivating and growing in the "defining marks" of the Christian life. Learn more about these "defining marks".

Along with these "defining marks" - Mountain view also has its:

Biblical Distinctives

Within our commitment to the foundational truths of historical Orthodox Christianity, we at MVC have certain Biblical Distinctives that may set us apart from other churches. Below, you will find a list of those distinctives or doctrines that may set us apart in teaching, although hopefully not in spirit, from some of our other brothers and sisters in the Universal Body of Christ.

Ministry Distinctives

Commitment to God’s Glory – God is supreme (Isaiah 46:9)!  He is our entire focus!  He alone is worthy of all praise and honor.  He is the reason the church exists.  We seek to lift up the greatness and glory of God in all that we do (Romans 11:33-36).

Leadership Distinctives

Church Government – We believe in the autonomy of the local church. We believe each church is to be led by a plurality of godly men who function as pastors (Acts 14:23, 1 Titus 1:5).  We believe the role of pastor to be one and the same with the biblical terms overseer, elder, and bishop (see interchanging use of these terms to refer to a single role in Acts 20:28 and 1 Peter 5:1-4).  Among the plurality of pastors, there is a recognition of differing giftedness and abilities in leadership that may set some apart from others in function, but not in authority.

Defining Marks

Our desire is that each person at MVC would be cultivating and growing in the following Defining Marks of the Christian life.  We seek to create environments where people are...

Encountering Jesus - Each person cultivating daily, life-changing intimacy with the Savior.

Statement of Faith

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) is the Word of God, fully inspired by Him and without error in the original manuscripts. The Scriptures contain the complete revelation of His will and plan for salvation. They are intended to teach, guide, correct, and nourish the believer, and are the final, divine authority for all matters of Christian faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 2:1-2; 2 Peter 1:20-21
