Having Creation Speak to Our Lives

Imagine leaving work after blowing a presentation or job task and know you are meeting with the boss the next morning, or walking out from a test you desperately needed to ace but you know you surely bombed it, or leaving for the grocery store anxious because the budget is tight and you are wondering how you are going to make ends meet for the month and all you want is food.

How could looking at the orange and reddish glowing sun setting over horsetooth as the clouds moved in perfect harmony with the slight breeze speak to your soul in such a time? In the midst of the frustration, anger, anxiety, or any other adverse emotion, how could seeing a sunset, the clouds or trees swaying in the wind minister to your restless soul? Psalm 19, 29 and 135 all state how God is the author of creation, is actively in control of His creation and all that we see in nature are works from His hands. Colossians 1 also speaks of creation being for, by, and through Jesus and that Jesus now sustains creation because of His power.
One might still say, how does that relate or speak to me in those hard times?  That sunset says to us that even in those hard times there is an all powerful, faithful, wise and gracious God who loves us and is taking care of us because the same all powerful God of creation is the same all loving God that sent His son to die for me and He loves me more than the sun. Creation reveals that the God that holds the universe together is the same God that can handle my job, finances, or family needs even if I cannot see it. Creation pours forth speech that God is more powerful than our circumstances and God can be trusted with our lives not just our souls!
Next time we step outside or peek out the window and look at a sunset, the clouds, the rain, or see the trees dancing in the wind, stop, take a deep breath and listen to what creation is telling you about our great God and Savior!
