MVC’s Position on Divorce & Remarriage

This past fall, as a result of our study through the gospel of Mark, we spent several weeks looking at the Bible’s teaching on divorce.  Jesus was asked by the Pharisees if it was lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason.  Embedded within this question was an intended trap, since the Pharisees themselves were split in their opinions about this question.  Rather than entering into their debate, Jesus goes back to Genesis chapter 2 and re-articulates God’s design and intent for marriage.  This text gave us a great launching point to look at the Bible’s teaching on marriage, divorce, and remarriage.  As a result of that series, the pastors have written a position paper to help clarify the Biblical position of our church on these topics.  The principles in this paper provide the governing framework for how the pastors will seek to counsel, shepherd, and admonish this church family.  Please take some time to read the paper which you can access by clicking here.
